This is how it’s supposed to work. When ever you get a notification your phones screen should light up … automatically so that you can see what’s new. It would have made sense for Samsung to block this feature as it was prone to annoying users on many occasions. Just to make sure that this really happens I suggest to grab a piece of paper or something and place it over the screen when not in use. Close down all applications running in the background and just check whether you’re getting notifications or whether your phone starts showing previews automatically while not being touched at all.
